Insecurity: Governor Yahyah Bello Suspends traditional rulers over the Kogi killings.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has directed the suspension of the Ohi of Eganyi and Chairman, Ajaokuta Area Traditional Council, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Musa Isah Achuja with immediate effect.


The Governor’s directive was coming barely 24 hours after gunmen suspected to be bandits ambushed and kill eight security officers in Ajaokuta Local Cioucil of Kogi State.

In a letter to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kogi State, the governor also directed that the Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Council, Hon Mustapha Aka’aba, be queried over the breach and should reply within 24 hours.


The press secretary to the governor said the governor's directive against the affected persons is related to the recent security breach in the area, which led to the untimely death of some security personnel.


The governor warned other traditional rulers across the state to stop immediately if they might have ties to criminals in their fields in some way, and said his administration will be ruthless towards anyone who has an affair with a criminal, regardless of their what is their status is

Governor Bello asked that all unauthorized movements by local council chairmen be stopped, and that any trips taken without proper process be avoided.

The governor said that no amount of cooperation with criminals will stop him from fulfilling his responsibility to protect the safety and property of citizens and residents of the state.
