Fodiyo Varsity Inducts 27 Nurses

Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has on the 24th February, 2020 inducted 27 Nursing students by taking oath into the profession. 

The oath taking ceremony was held at the University Auditorium, hosted by Dr I. M. Sani, HOD Nursing Sciences and chief hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Professor L. S. Bilbis.

Out of 50 students admitted, only 27 of them were able to make it to the final year. "Of the 50, we are having 27 now, you consider yourself to be very lucky to make it," Prof. Bilbis, the Vice Chancellor said.

In his speech, Bilbis also announced the commencement of post graduate and part-time degree programs in nursing next year as "the University has gotten full accreditation from the National University Commission (NUC)".

Awarding the outstanding graduating students, Salaudeen Abdulwahab from Offa, Kwara State was awarded as the Overall Best Graduating Student and one of the five Best Graduating Students in Nigeria. Salaudeen also received the award for the best Psychiatrist of the year.

Following his award, Sabiu Dan Galadima also received two awards—Best in Opthalmology and Medical Surgical nursing. Whereas, Usman Ibrahim as well received the award for best behaved student and Isah Rasheedat Muhammad won the award of the best graduating female student.

In attendance were important dignitaries, chieftains, commissioners, professors and many professional nurses in the country.
